Further Information

Q:
Can we program this with a microbit?
Asked by: Mona
A:
Hi Mona,

Thank you for your question, this board already has an arduino controller on the board so you would not be able to control this with a micro:bit.

Best Regards

Q:
Dear Sir/ Madam, I am new to Lilypads and was wondering
1. How do I set them up and what do I need to do this?
2. How do I program them and what software do I need to do this?
3. Are they reusable?
4. What other components might I need to create a circuit?
Is there a step by step 'how to guide' I could use? I am a secondary school teacher and am hoping to use this for GCSE lessons.
Many Thanks, Polly

Dear Polly,

Thank you for your question, hopefully the below can help:

1 and 4) Lily pads are essentially extensions for other products, in the case of the product you have asked this question against, it is an arduino micro controller which has it's pins broken out. You would need a relevant power source depending on what you were attempting (2V to 5V in this case). It would then depend what project you want to attempt. If you want to make a wearables item that flashes when it is picked up then you need some LEDs and an accelerometer to code. If you want it to buzz on a switch press you would need switches and a buzzer. You will always need an FTDI adaptor and mini usb which should be linked in the product description to down load the code. There is not a step by step guide that we do as this is essentially a product for allowing you to create your own projects but Sparkfun and Arduino have some getting started guides hosted on their websites.

2) You would down load the code onto this using the the FTDI adaptor and USB cable. The coding language would depend on which micro controller in this case it is designed for arduino so C/C++ or Python.

3) They are reusable you can download and overwrite codes

I hope this helps!
