Q:
Hi Im interested in using your cherry vaneered mdf 600m x 400m x6m is it suitable for use as a pizza dough board?
Asked by: Dessie O'Neill
A:
Hi Dessie,

Thank you for your question, I would not recommend simply using it off the shelf for that purpose. I would suggest using a food safe sealant such as raw linseed oil but even then from what I know you would need to keep reapplying it.

Unfortunately this is not something a customer has asked to use this for before so I am unable to shed much more light on this I am afraid.

Q:
hi, im interested in buying a few sheets of cherry veneered wood for laser marking and cutting. can they be easily cut down by myself to fit my laser bed? 24 inch by 12 inch. are the sheets flat and no bows in them??

A:
Hi Stuart, It might be possible to cut this down, the core is just MDF so shouldn't be too difficult to cut. The key would be to make a clean cut on the veneer without this splintering,(masking tape over the board before cutting may help). Regarding the sheets being flat, typically we don't experience much twisting with MDF, however we have seen in excess of 10mm rise from the raised corner to the flat centre. The product does vary batch to batch and we do all we can to keep this at a minimum.
