This kit uses a thermistor to measure the temperature which is then displayed on an LED scale. A PIC micro-controller, pre-programmed with special software, is used to process the output of the thermistor and light the relevant LEDs.
The thermometer has two temperature ranges. One designed for indoor use and the other for outdoor use (selected by a wire link). The temperature is displayed every 10 seconds or can be displayed on demand by adding either a normally open / normally closed push button switch.

This was my first ever soldering project. It turned out well. However, for number five, selecting indoor or outdoor, I wasn’t sure what to do. Maybe someone can clarify it in the comments.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review for the kit, hopefully I can clear up any confusion. The kit uses a sensor to determine the temperature but has two different ranges. One for measuring temperature from 14 Degrees to 30 Degrees and one for measuring from -10 Degrees to 30 Degrees. We have called them Indoor and outdoor depending on the range you want to measure.
These are labelled as In and Out. You put a small piece of wire such as the cut leg of the resistor from the left hand hole to the central hole for inside temperature. Or use a small piece to connect the right hand role to the central hole for outside temperature.
