Q:
Please can you tell me the weight of your 0.8m polypropylene sheet. I am looking for approx 350 micron.
Many thanks
Asked by: Vanessa Free
A:

Hello Vanessa, 350 micron is equal to 0.35mm as such this sheet would be 800 micron. The thinnest sheet we stock is 0.5mm or 500 micron, polypropylene-sheets/material-thickness_0-5mm

Q:
Are these rated for use in an electrical supply cabinet or suitable for use to protect electrical connections from falling debris or tools in a control cabinet? 480 Volts 3ph
Asked by: Scott Hitchner
A:
Hi Scott,

Thank you for you question, it is slightly hard to advise on that I am afraid. Polypropylene is not conductive but can respond to heat and we have not tested it with 480V so hard for me to advise.

Q:
Hello,

I am wondering if the fine sanded sides of these sheets are smooth enough to serve as a semi-dry erase board. That is, I know it won't be perfect as a dry erase, so I'll have acetone and/or glass cleaner handy to erase smudges. I am interested in the aqua blue specifically.

Also, the color of the sheet in the accompanying pictures and videos does not appear to be "aqua blue" per se. At least as defined by internet images. Are the images and video still up to date regarding the color of this product?

Thank you!
Asked by: Kenechukwu Nwosu
A:
Hi Kenechukwu

Thank you for your questions, I have trialled with some of our board markers on some scrap pieces of polypropylene and with a little acetone and wipes the board pens I used came off quite easily so I think that should work.

As ever there is always a slight disconnect in colour of items on a screen compared to real life those sheets reasonably match that. I believe we titled it as Aqua blue to try and differentiate it obviously from our 0.5mm Dark Blue Sheet to try and flag it was a different colour to customers.

Best Regards

Q:
Hi, If I used this as a non-stick boarder with Epoxy resin would this work.
Many Thanks Terry
Asked by: Terry
A:
Hi Terry,

Thank you for your question, I am afraid we have not tested this sheet with Epoxy resin so I would recommend testing a small piece first. However, based on what I know of these sheets and epoxy this should work but would still recommend testing first.

Q:
How well do these sheets (white) take pencil, or soft graphite (6B) from a lead holder? Can it then be removed with a plastic or nylon eraser? I'm wondering about this material's suitability for custom dive slates. Thanks!
Asked by: Ivy
A:
Hi Ivy, I have been in touch with the suppliers and unfortunately they do not have any information regarding the material and its properties when graphite. As such it would be a case of testing this to see if it would be suitable for your intended use. Sorry we don't have any further information.

Q:
Hi, assumed I buy the product and cut it into A4 sheets, would it potentially be printable double sided? If yes, does it need specific printers or office ones?
Please let me know asap :D
Asked by: ValentinaD
A:

Hi, you should be able to print on either side of the material, so yes it could be double sided. However it is unlikely to work in a normal laser printer. The recommended printing methods are Offset Printer, Screen Printing or Sublimation Printing.

Q:
Do you still have the clear see through variety please?
Asked by: Rhona Davies
A:

Hi Rhona, The product was original stated as a clear material, however after an issue with the material we discovered that the material isn’t guaranteed to be completely clear, as such this product was altered to reflect this updated information. As such this is the same product that was previously listed as clear, the change now better suits the product we stock.

Asked by: Jay
A:

Hello Jay, I don’t believe this would be suitable. I think if you put an iron onto the material it would just melt and not curl.

Q:
Hi there

I am hoping to make a flexible box for photography. How would you form folds and creases and would you think it would be strong enough to hold a small smart phone or tablet on top?

Many thanks
Asked by: Carmen Nevin
A:

Hi Carmen, the polypropylene can be folded using a Cold and hot creasing technique, depending on the thickness. It should be fairly rigid so should be able to take a small amount of weight. It would be worth testing it first to make sure what its maximum load is.

Q:
Is there a good glue that sticks to this coated polypropylene sheet?
Asked by: Steve Fox
A:

We don’t have a particular glue that we recommended for this product, however you would need to ensure it is safe to use with polypropylene, the datasheet states, ‘ViPrint can be glued with PUR glue or hot melt, although welding is the preferred option’.

Q:
Hi, I need a rain proof flexible transparent cover for a lean to greenhouse that does not go yellow with age or turn frosted in the elements. It is a bendy metal roof structure which provides the base for the sheets. How do I fix the sheets to such a structure? Is it easy to drill holes for tying through where necessary? This will be approx 9 of the biggest sized sheets to be overlapped and fixed. Thanks.
Asked by: Margaret Wrightson
A:

I don’t believe this product would turn yellow or frosted with the elements although the full effects of prolonged expose isn’t known. Also we don’t know of a direct method of fixing the sheets to a metal roof, although if you wanted to use an adhesive you would need to ensure this is safe to use on polypropylene. You are able to drill the material very easily.

Hi, I am looking for a clear plastic sheeting approx 60" x 36 to hang over a rabbit hutch to provide a partial wind proof cover without a seal that can be lifted up to provide access. This could be in overlapping strips
Asked by: Ron Hamee
A:

This product would be suitable for this use as it is a flexible but durable material. You could easily cut this into strips and overlap them using a sharp knife or scissors. This is however the largest sheet size we stock, and also the thickest we do.

Q:
Hello, I am constructing a diorama that will include the appearance of a "lake"
I have a clear piece of glass measuring: Length 11" and the with is 60"
I have Blue sheet of regular construction paper that I plan to place as a back ground bellow the glass. I would like to know if you have for sale a sheet of Perspex that I can place on top of the Blue sheet of the construction paper that will give it the illusion of subtle waves on water.

Or if you have a product that I can purchase from you that I can place under my piece of glass that will give it the appearance of a sky Blue, subtle waves. I have a few small ships that will go on top of my glass to give he "illusion" of small boats on a sky blue river. Please advice. Thank you kindly.
Asked by: FELIX APONTE
A:

The only Perspex we do are smooth sheets, for the effect you are after you would need a textured sheet of Perspex which unfortunately we don’t stock.

Q:
Hi, watched your video on this polypropylene sheet. I was wondering if you can laser etch (engrave) them as well, particularly the 0.8mm sheet ?

thanks
Andre
Asked by: Andre Els
A:

Yes it is possible to laser etch, however depending on the power and speed you set the laser cutter to, depends on the outcome. After a few trial runs we have worked out a lower power and lower speed option is best, 20% power and 25 speed give a nice outcome on the product.
