Further Information

Q:
I bought this switch and a 3v motor (stock code 2543) hoping to switch the motor on and off. Although the switch works with an LED it doesnt seem to with the motor. The motor works well with a 3v battery but nothing via the switch.
Is there anything I may be doing wrong or are the two not compatible?
Asked by: John Steer
A:
Hi John,

Thank you for your question so those batteries are most likely 200mA batteries with the coin cell. The motor draws 0.4 to 1.5A depending on the Voltage and so on. When you are trying to get the motor started off you need a higher current. So the motor will be drawing too much current to actually start.

An LED is only 30mA draw most of the time so vastly lower than the motor which is why that will be working and the motor is not.

I hope that helps!

Q:
How many light will this switch and battery holder be able to turn on at one go. I am wanting to make an illuminated sash over my dress like the video you have on here for the T-shirt. Would it make a difference if I used flashing lights or the ordinary white lights.
Asked by: Elizabeth Rishworth
A:

The most LED’s you can power from this would be 6 LED’s spaced equally on either side of the battery holder. It wouldn’t make a difference if you used flashing LED’s or standard LED’s.
