Solar Cell, 50 x 30 mm, 5V

This is a 5V high-efficiency polysilicon Solar Cell with PET laminated finish, giving it a waterproof cell face and it is, therefore, suitable for many applications. It is UV resistant, yellow resistant and assembled with a high transparency epoxy resin glue. It also features 60mm pre-tinned flying leads which come pre-soldered to the board.

Solar power cells make great introductions to solar power projects, and it is suitable for projects such as outside lights. Its discreet size makes it the perfect choice for small handheld torches.

It provides a working current of 40mA and does NOT include a blocking diode. In projects where this solar cell is used to charge batteries, a blocking diode must be added to the circuit in order to prevent the batteries discharging back into the cell when it gets dark.

This is the same solar cell used in the Kitronik Solar Torch Kit.
