Unlock your potential and get creative with code, electronics, science, and engineering. With the BBC micro:bit anything is possible!
The micro:bit Go pack contains everything needed to get started: a micro:bit V2 board, USB cable, battery holder, 2×AA batteries, and a quick‑start guide.
On‑board sensors
The micro:bit includes an accelerometer for 3‑axis movement detection, a compass, temperature and light sensing, and a microphone with LED indicator. These enable projects such as alarms, tilt controllers, and sound‑reactive displays.
Buttons
Two user‑programmable buttons allow interaction in games and projects. V2 adds a touch‑sensitive logo that works as both a sensor and a button.
Light and sound
A 5×5 programmable LED matrix displays text, numbers, and images. V2 includes an onboard microphone and speaker for audio‑based projects.
Wireless
Bluetooth Low Energy (upgraded to Bluetooth 5.0 in V2) enables communication with phones, tablets, and PCs. The Radio module allows simple wireless communication between micro:bits.
Edge connector
25 pins including GPIO, PWM, I²C, SPI, power, and 3 ring connectors for crocodile clips or conductive thread. V2 features notched rings and a dedicated I²C bus.
Power
Power via USB, JST battery connector, or the 3V pad. V2 adds an on/off switch, power LED, and increases accessory current from 90mA to 200mA.
Coding
Use MakeCode (Blocks, JavaScript, Python) or the Python Editor. All V1 programmes can be rebuilt for V2, and editors support both versions for shared features.
