This Valentine’s, why not bring a little homemade cuteness to your kitchen and surprise your nearest and dearest with a simple but effective magnet? We’ve used laser cutting, but we recommend looking at other methods too, like drawing or painting on Finnboard. Whatever you do, it’s best if it’s made with love!

What did we use?
- Ferrite Magnets (20mm x 3mm disk). (2292)
- (Optional) Perspex Sweet Pastels Raspberry Sherbet. (43250)
- (Optional) Finnboard Laser Craft Card. (32186)
- (Optional) Black Painted MDF. (32163)
- A Hot Glue Gun.
- A Laser Cutter.
- This DXF Design File.
Note:
- *Price per student calculated based on 30 students and the exVAT price for one sheet of 3mm thick 600mm x 400mm Black Painted MDF, with each magnet design being maximum 75mm x 48mm an therefore fitting 64 designs to a sheet.

Step 1 - Check out the design files.
This DXF contains the design for this project. The diagram below shows you how to work with the file.

This design can be tiled nine to a sheet of 600 x 400mm material. The black lines should be kiss-cut (a cut that doesn’t go all the way through
Step 2 - Laser cut the magnet designs.
As specified in the diagram above, cut out the magnet designs. Below we show three examples of materials that you could use - Black Painted MDF, Finnboard, and Perspex® Sweet Pastels Acrylic in the colour Raspberry Sherbet.

Step 3 - Attach the Magnets
We used hot glue, but you could use double-sided tapes or foam tabs, or even superglue.

Step 4 - Let the glue cool, and you’re done!
Pop it on the fridge, on a whiteboard, or any other magnetic surface!
