1N5400 Diode

The through-hole 1N5400 is a standard low-cost rectifier diode in a DO-27 package. They have a current rating of 3A and low forward voltage drop (1V @ 3A) and low reverse leakage current.

These diodes are primarily used for circuit protection and voltage rectification. They are classified as general purpose and can often be found in devices such as power supplies.

This diode features in some of our Amplifier kits and is used to protect the audio ICs against damage if the power supply is connected the wrong way around. Some examples of kits that use this diode can be seen below;
