Kitronik 30 Second Record Playback Kit V2.0

The Kitronik 30 Second Record Playback Kit V2.0 is an easy-to-build audio recording and playback kit designed for classroom electronics projects and home STEM/STEAM activities. This updated version increases the recording time to 30 seconds (up from 10 seconds in V1), introduces a smaller PCB, and includes several improvements that make the kit simpler to assemble and more robust for student use. Whether you’re teaching basic circuits, creating interactive models, or adding sound to props, this kit provides a reliable single-button way to record and play back audio.

The kit includes all the components required to complete the build: PCB, resistors, capacitors, status LED, tactile dual-function switch, AA battery holder and PP3 clips, a microphone, and an 8Ω off-board speaker. The PCB also features two sets of external solder pads (battery and speaker), and each of the four corners includes an M3 mounting hole for secure attachment to an enclosure or project base.

V2.0 introduces several improvements over the original kit, including easier assembly, a smaller PCB footprint, a pre-soldered IC and protection diode, a simplified single-button interface, and an extended 30-second recording time.

To record, press and hold the switch, then release it when you have finished. A single press of the same switch will play back the recorded audio through the speaker. Repeat the process to make a new recording.
