The Kitronik FM Radio Project Kit V3.0 is the latest version of our best-selling FM radio project kit for schools, makers and electronics enthusiasts. Designed specifically for education, it offers an engaging introduction to soldering, electronic circuit assembly and a solid foundation for product design whilst giving students the satisfaction of building a fully functioning FM radio.

The kit uses modern industrial surface-mount radio receiver and amplifier ICs, which are pre-fitted to the PCB, leaving students to solder the remaining through-hole components. This makes it an ideal classroom project for developing practical soldering skills whilst learning about electronic components, circuit construction and troubleshooting techniques.

Once assembled, the radio features simple controls for tuning and volume adjustment. Audio is delivered through the supplied 66mm speaker, with the onboard amplifier providing clear, powerful sound output that brings the completed project to life.

The PCB can be powered from a 2.5V to 5.5V DC supply and works equally well with a 5V wall supply or 3 x AA batteries (not supplied). For added robustness in educational environments, the kit also features onboard reverse polarity protection to help guard against accidental incorrect battery connections.

As well as teaching electronics, the FM Radio Project Kit V3.0 provides an excellent platform for Design & Technology and STEM activities. Students can progress beyond the electronic assembly stage by designing and manufacturing their own custom enclosures, creating a complete product development project that combines electronics, design, prototyping and manufacturing skills.

Teachers and students familiar with previous versions of this popular kit will feel completely at home with V3.0. The PCB dimensions remain unchanged, and the kit operates in exactly the same way as earlier versions, making it straightforward to transition existing lesson plans, resources and project materials.

To support classroom delivery, comprehensive teacher and student documentation is available in the Resources section below, including build instructions and supporting project materials.
