Working with Perspex acrylic sheets:
Perspex is a versatile material that can be cut, drilled, laser cut, and thermoformed with reliable, repeatable results.
As a thermoplastic, Perspex becomes flexible when heated to around 140–180°C, allowing it to be bent or formed. Once cooled below roughly 85°C, it returns to a rigid state.
Perspex can be shaped using a CNC router or laser cutter. Laser‑cut edges have a clean, polished appearance, often showing fine vertical lines from the laser pulses. For a perfectly smooth finish on machined edges, techniques such as diamond polishing or flame polishing can be used.
Laser cutters can also be used to etch the surface, producing crisp and detailed effects. The sheets arrive with protective film on both faces; remove the film on the side being etched, but it can remain in place during standard laser cutting as it produces no harmful gases (unlike PVC).

These Cell cast Opaque Matte 3mm Perspex Naturals acrylic sheets have a standard manufacturing tolerance of the stated thickness ±10% plus ±0.4mm. For a 3mm sheet, this means the actual thickness may fall between approximately 2.3mm and 3.7mm.
