Further Information

Q:
Is it possible to power a Microbit using this board? If so, what resistor would be required? Thanks.
Asked by: Nick
A:
Hi Nick,

I wouldn't recommend it. If you were connecting to the micro USB on the micro:bit you might as well just connect the micro USB directly and if you were connecting to the JST you would likely blow the board even with a resistor.

Q:
We are planning to use a micro usb breakout board (5104) with the 2155-lamp kit. Can you tell me please the size of the resister that we should use and which connectors on the board to use Ground and R ? Is this correct. Thank you.
Asked by: robert wallace
A:
Hi Robert, As the 5V desk lamp kit already has resistors you shouldn't need to place one on the breakout board. Instead you would use the 5V and GND pin for direct power or SW and GND if you wanted to make use of the switch.

Q:
The connections to R1 are given in the data sheet. What are the connections to R2?
Also, what are the heights above board for the connector and switch?
Asked by: J McKillop
A:
Hi there,

Thank you for your question, the R2 uses the same connections as the R1 it is simply a space for a bigger power resistor should you need one.

The connector is approximately 3mm proud of the board and the switch is approximately 4mm.

Best Regards
