The BBC micro:bit Story:
It all sprang from an innocuous email in the spring of 2014, a customer was organising an order for some supplies for workshops she was running at Newcastle Maker Faire, and had a query. As I always like to put faces to names, I dropped in to see her at the Maker Faire, and in fact we ended up writing a blog post about her making club. Forward 9 months and another email, this time explaining that she is an Innovation producer for BBC Learning and that she was working on the Make It Digital 2015 project. This project is all about inspiring a new generation to get creative with digital and code. Well, that sounded right up our street, and given that we endeavour to engage to engage young people in technology wherever possible we headed down to London to find out more. It soon became clear that there was a role which was just perfect for us. An opportunity to be involved with writing resources and providing samples for projects which young people could have a go at in school. Several months later and we are putting the finishing touches to the these resources, ready to roll out this autumn.©Kitronik Ltd – You may print this page & link to it, but must not copy the page or part thereof without Kitronik's prior written consent.
