Emma shows you how to make a custom enclosure for the Kitronik smart greenhouse kit for the BBC micro:bit. Maybe you want to grow a taller crop or maybe you just fancy having the kit sit in something that looks like a traditional greenhouse kit. Whatever your reasons, we've got you covered!
You will need:
- 1 x Kitronik Smart Greenhouse Kit.
- 1 x 3mm Glass Look Perspex®.
- 1 x Mini 180 Degree Resin Gear Servo.
- A Laser Cutter.
- This DXF.
Step 1: Assembling the Smart Greenhouse Kit
Assemble your greenhouse! Leave the lid off though, you won’t need it. Also, attach the servo to the board, you’ll definitely need that!
Step 2: To The Laser Cutter!
Cut the above DXF out on your Glass Look Perspex® (or any clear acrylic) and slot it together! It should friction fit, but feel free to glue the joints for extra stability.
Step 3: Finishing Flourishes
Lower your Greenhouse Kit into the new greenhouse enclosure, tape your ZIP leds to the roof, push your servo into place in the designated hole (again, this should friction fit, but there are small holes to secure it with screws if needed).
