This week the Micro:bit Foundation launched the micro:bit Give Shop – a way you can help change the lives of disadvantaged children around the world by helping them learn to code and invent with the micro:bit.
The Foundation has a sponsorship scheme that donates and ships micro:bits, for free, to schools and youth programs all around the world. The organisations the Foundation supports are doing great work in their local communities. From poverty stricken rural communities in Sri Lanka, to disadvantaged teens in Canada, to the entire school population of Ascension Island. Their sponsorship program has already reached nearly ten thousand children; the target is to reach tens of thousands by the end of 2017 and you can help.
Each time you buy an item from the Give Shop the Foundation will send you one, and use your purchase to donate an equivalent item to a class or code club needing support.
The Micro:bit Foundation giving shop is run by Kitronik, who also fulfil all orders. Director Geoff Hampson said "We've been involved in the micro:bit project from the very beginning and are delighted to support the foundation with their sponsorship program".
See our microbit page for more microbit kits and accessories.
