Kevin and Cullen said goodbye to the UK and Ciao to Rome as Kitronik were invited to attend Maker Faire Rome 2024 by our good friends DigiKey. They took some shiny Kitronik products and literature to show everyone. Over the weekend of October 25th to 27th, the Gazometro Ostiense filled up with people in the event organised by the Rome Chamber of Commerce, and Kevin and Cullen attempted to speak to as many people as possible.
The event was crammed with a wide range of educators, makers and students from 10am till 7pm, all interested in seeing the range of engaging projects. These included;
- The new Kitronik micro:bit Arcades with our full range of coding shorts being shown off.
- A Two player game of Pong built across 20+ displays and controlled by a raspberry Pi built by DigiKey.
- A memory game with prizes designed by Kitronik.
- A host of fun interactive projects using touch, sound and lights brought by Digi-key
- Badge making and photo printing so attendees had a memory to take away with them
Cullen and Kevin also had a good tour of the venue and the range of the other stands, which helped them to get inspired with new ideas and potential makes for the future.
What is Maker Faire:
Maker Faire Rome – The European Edition is an annual fair, dedicated to innovation, technology, and creativity. It brings together innovators, makers, and enthusiasts from all over Europe. In addition to showcasing projects and inventions, it offers workshops, conferences, and labs to acquire technical skills and stimulate collaboration. It attracts students, startups, companies, and government entities, fostering idea exchange and technological evolution. It has become a reference point for the European innovators community, highlighting Italy as a center of innovation and creativity.
As always, we had a great time and we would like to thank our good friends at DigiKey for inviting us along, it was fun and inspiring. Check out the photos below for a few snaps of what we got up to.
