Arduino: a word that we are seeing more and more of in this ever growing maker culture.
Why is it so popular? The Arduino is essentially a simple computer with eyes and ears. While the average computer at home is great at communicating with other computers and with the user, these computers have no idea what is going on in the world around them. Arduino has been designed to feed computers physical information by hooking them up to sensors.

Arduino hardware is cheap, it’s easy to
program and there is a huge web community, which means that beginners can find help and download myriad programs for the boards. Interested in creating interactive objects or environments? Look no further.
